The story of exactly how I started the Pomeranian passion begins as a young child. I was fortunate to have an Aunt who bred and exhibited
Champion Pomeranians. A great joy was to be able to nurse a Champion Pomeranian
on the way home from a show. I now understand the reason why I was allowed to nurse the Pomeranian after the show. I made
up my mind that one day my life would be filled with Show Pomeranians.
I have been fortunate to have a Pomeranian to share most of my life. I am
certain that this early experience with the Pomeranian breed, in addition to many years of practical experience breeding
livestock and working with stock horses on the farm has aided in my quest to breed superior quality Pomeranians.
Applying for a prefix in 1975, we received a postcard from my mother-in-law, who had returned to visit her previous home and relatives in Scotland. This card
originated from a place called "Dochlaggie", on the spur of the moment this name was
submitted. I had previously submitted at least 40 names and they had been rejected.
At
last an accepted prefix and hence the Dochlaggie Pomeranians came into existence.
Dochlaggie Pomeranians won it's first
All Breeds Best in Show at a Championship Show in 1978 with homebred, owner
handled Champion Dochlaggie Decisive and that was the beginning of our success in

As well as the challenge of breeding quality orange Pomeranians, I also have
a passion for the coloured Pomeranian. I have spent the last 15 years working
on whites, parti colours and wolf sables.
The Dochlaggie Pomeranians are a mixture of UK & American lines. I have found this cross of lines works so well.
The early Dochlaggie where Australian
lines. Visiting Europe in 1989 and attending Dog Shows
and visiting prominent breeder's we selected 3 males and 4 females
from the Hadleigh lines. Selecting only the best puppies produced to be retained
for future breeding and show purposes, these new lines where to nearly replace
the breeding lines I had been working with previously.
Totally over the last 35 years, I have had 30 imported Pomeranians here at
Dochlaggie.
A small number of the 30 imports contributed to the success of the
kennel. Others where not the quality require, therefore loving pet homes where found for these Pomeranians.
I would like to thank the wonderful Pomeranian people who entrusted us with
outstanding Pomeranians and contributed so much to the tremendous success Dochlaggie Pomeranians have enjoyed. Dochlaggie Pomeranians have been top winners not only within Australia, but
have experienced wonderful achievements worldwide .
All the Pomeranians are micro chipped. I had been using a tattoo as permanent
identification prior to 1999. When micro chips became available in 1999 this
seemed a better method of identification and I had all adults and new babies
micro chipped. Pomeranians used for breeding are DNA profiled.
Dochlaggie has been an enthusiastic Exhibitor/Breeder of Champion Pomeranians for more than 35
years. I have been so fortunate to have been able to share my life with this special
little dog. All the joys along the way have made the sorrows in this breed bearable. I have been lucky to have made many wonderful friends in the Pomeranian World
and have a very supportive family, without this support I would not have
been able to follow my dream of breeding & exhibiting world class Pomeranians.
